The following are government programs & incentives currently being offered.

HOME RENOVATION CREDIT
- A non-refundable tax credit for work performed or goods acquired in respect of an eligible dwelling
- Will be available for the 2009 tax year and applies to eligible expenditures of more than $1,000. but no more than $10,000., resulting in a maximum credit of $1,350. ($9,000 X 15%)

ecoENERGY RETROFIT-HOMES
- ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes provides home and property owners with grants up to $5,000 per unit to offset the cost of making energy efficiency improvements

HOME BUYERS PLAN
- Allows first-time home buyers to withdraw up to $25,000 from a RRSP to purchase or build a home
- Two first-time home buyers puchasing a home jointly (e.g. married or common law) with sufficient RRSP funds in each of their names may now together withdraw up to $50,000 from their RRSP funds

FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS' TAX CREDIT
- The costs associated with purchasing a home, such as legal fees & disbursements can be a particular burden for first-time home buyers, who must pay these costs on top of saving the money for a down payment
- This will come in the form of a tax credit on your 2009 Income Tax Return
